Jill's birthday -- 05/12/12

Thursday was Jill's birthday...

You can probably see the 30 above the "Happy" -- I can remember when I hit thirty and now my little girl is 30. We went to the Wakefield Fat Belly's Pub (a Rhode Island company -- this is one of six pubs they own). I know, some of you were thinking that when we eat out locally we almost always go to the Mews Tavern, but we've not been happy there lately. Fat Belly's is much smaller but they serve good pub food and they have a good beer selection -- including Guinness, of course, but they also serve Ten Penny Ale, which is my new favorite since Jill introduced me to it when she and I ate at Fat Belly's one night a few weeks ago.

And then we came back home for cake and ice cream. Jeremy, Lia (a friend of Jill's since junior high school), the birthday girl cutting the cake, and Nancy, ready to scoop up some ice cream.

(One of these days I have to post some pictures of Nancy and Jill working on scraping off the wallpaper and then painting the dining room this spring. They did a great job.)

And here is our birthday girl opening her cards and presents.

And that is all I have time for -- I need to mow the back lawn, do some work on the vegetable garden, fix dinner when Nancy gets home (she is on a lay committee interviewing the candidates for Episcopal Bishop for Rhode Island) and then we are meeting with her mother and some of her sisters and going to see a performance of Nunsense at the Courthouse Center for the Arts (which is just what the name implies, an 1892 vintage courthouse that has been converted into an art center (music, theatre, art, dance, and so on).
