Continuing Jim's Journal and Journey -- 08/25/13

If you have not yet read Jim's posting of July 27th with the title An Athletic Weekend, please be sure to read it. He described a weekend that he looked forward to for a long time. A weekend that started with Blessing of the Fleet and was to culminate with Crabman Sprint Triathlon.

Actually the Blessing of the Fleet was an event that both of us looked forward to back in the day when we would run the event together - putting more effort and energy into talking and laughing rather than running or being concerned about our pace. (A posting from 2005 describes one of those brothers in running events..)

The rest of Jim's posting for July 27th, 2013 described the Crabman Sprint Triathlon that he had been training for. The two of us had spent many phone calls and instant messaging sessions talking about his training. He was ready.

But we [me as his brother - his family and friends] were not ready for what happened. Jim left us that day - doing what he loved... living. He was active in running, active in community groups and active in his dedication to loving his family. He is missed by all of us. But we find comfort in the countless cards, emails and postings from his world wide community of friends. The notes we received showed that he touched many in his local community as well as those across this globe who followed his journal, worked with him remotely and even a facebook posting from a former student who recalled the inspiration he provided in his days as a public school teacher.

His impact on those he touched will last forever.

Now - his family wishes to continue Jim's Journal. Please spread the word that Jim's Journal Lives On... just as Jim lives on in our hearts.

For many years - when I posted comments to Jim's Journal - I signed my comments as being from Jim's Baby Brother Charlie. That's who I am and always will be. Jimmy - thank you for all the things you did for me as we grew up together... as we went through college and started and changed our careers. We had a good time together as brothers... You are forever in my heart.

Miss You,
Jim's Baby Brother Charlie

Note: Please check back soon for more postings from his family who will now continue Jim's Journal.
